Dr Dick Williams - BSc(Hons)PhD
Senior Principal Research Scientist (plant ecology)

Dick Williams is a plant ecologist. His main interest is plant community dynamics. He worked in the Victorian alpine country for his PhD, examining the effects of cattle grazing on the heathland and grassland communities. He taught at Melbourne and Monash Universities from 1987-1990, prior to joining CSIRO in 1991. His work in savannas focuses on variation in the structure and composition of savannas in relation to soil and rainfall gradients, and the responses of savannas to fire. He is a member of the Northern Territory Bushfires Council, the Northern Territory Bushcare Technical Advisory Panel, and The Australian Journal of Botany Editorial Advisory Committee.
