Applications

The Darwin workshop will be limited to 60 participants selected via an application process.

The application process is as follows:

  2. Email applications to iiamwapplications@csiro.au by 19 February, 2010
  3. Applications will be assessed by the workshop organisers and all applicants will be notified by email by 26 February, 2010

Please note: This letter does not represent an invitation to be used with your Australian visa application. Letters for visa applications will be issued individually at a later date following the announcement of successful applications.

How can I be selected to participate?

Priority will be given to applicants that best satisfy any of the following criteria:
  • Long-term involvement in invasive ant management, especially eradication;
  • A research focus on any aspect of invasions that has implications for invasive ant management;
  • About to commence an ant management program, especially an eradication, with the intention of long-term involvement;
If your application is successful

All applicants will be notified by 26 February, 2010
  1. Successful applicants will be expected to provide a brief (maximum 30 second) presentation to introduce themselves to all other participants.
  2. Applicants are also encouraged to propose a longer presentation (15-20 minutes) on any relevant aspect of invasive ant management. Presentations focussing on lessons learnt from management programs, both past and present, as well as research implications for management will be particularly welcomed. Please limit abstracts to maximum 250 words - Times Roman 12 point
Workshop expenses

Workshop registration will cost AUD$370

Registration covers:
  • Morning and afternoon teas, and lunches
  • Minibus transport between the workshop venue and the Travelodge Mirambeena Resort
  • Workshop Field trip on Wednesday April 28, 2010
  • Workshop Dinner on Wednesday April 28, 2010
Workshop participants are responsible for:
  • Accommodation costs - the Travelodge Mirambeena Resort is AUD$110/night (breakfast not included).
  • Airport transfers
  • Alcoholic drinks at social events
  • All breakfasts and dinners (except workshop dinner).
