Information for Students

CSIRO Tropical Ecosystem Research Centre in Darwin, Northern Territory offers Australian and international undergraduate and postgraduate students the opportunity to study in the unique northern Australian environment, working with internationally renowned scientists. CSIRO in Darwin has a particularly strong association with international students, hosting more than 140 students from France, Germany, Belgium, Spain,  Italy and Holland since 2000.

Darwin is Australia's most northern capital city and is located a few hours drive from the World Heritage Kakadu National Park. The area consists of internationally significant wetlands, tropical savannas, monsoon rainforest and sandstone escarpment (see see Top End Landscapes). The climate is strongly seasonal (see Top End Seasons). The dry season (May-Sept) is the peak tourist period and is consistently warm and sunny, while the wet season (October-April) offers monsoonal rain and wonderful tropical thunderstorms.
